Analysing a contents page and a double page spread "Classic Pop."

CONTENTS PAGE ANALYSIS:

How many pages are used for contents?

There are two pages and this makes the reader secure in their value for money, as it gives the appearance of an abundance of information.

Are all editorial items listed? Or just some of them?

Some of the editorial items are listed in columns. Other editorial items are  listed but are also shown as a picture with a page number on it. This entices the reader to find out more regarding the page numbers, as the items are reinforced (there must be some importance).

How many sections are there, and what are they? How have the sections and pages been organised? Is there any order? Consider columns, alignment, captions and textboxes.

There are 4sections: features, news, regulars and reviews. The alignment of images : a mixture of small and large images in a collage organisation. 6 columns.

Which images are used? Shot types, framing, lightning and other mise-en-scene elements:

Majority medium close-ups with long shots: wider view of magazine's contents. Mood of pictures- thoughtful and happy expressions- connotations of joy. Mise-en-scene objects related to music such as a mic- reemphasis the genre of magazine. Images link to listing on contents page- often the images are expanded through words in the columns.

How does the contents page reflect the front cover?

Similar colours are used and the same branding (the logo).

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ANALYSIS:

One featured article is "Hall & Oates" on page 70 of the magazine.

What's the piece about? Also, reflect on its structure:

The piece is about the famous 1970s- 1980S music duo "Halls & Oates" having an influence on other musicians.
